Mention Pebble Beach to anyone who has been a visitor to the Monterey Peninsula and you will either be regaled with a story of world class golf or a discussion of the first time they drove the magnificent 17 Mile Drive.   One of the most enduring impressions of this enchanting  drive is the famous lone cypress tree.
Touring the 17 Mile Drive creates lifetime memories.  The drive can be done in under an hour but most people stop, get out of their cars at the designated spots and spend time experiencing the joys of nature's beauty in one of the most scenic spots on the whole planet.  One of the things I am always most struck by are the number of deer grazing happily on the golf courses.  I’m sure the golfers aren’t impressed but I think they’re cute!

 

                                                                               

Unlike most towns of its size, Pebble Beach, California is unincorporated. Homeowners pay fees rather than taxes. Pebble Beach Company owns the "corporation" of Pebble Beach and the rights to the image of the Lone Cypress.

Golf is the main event and the public courses include Poppy Hills, home of the Northern California Golf Association, the Links at Spanish Bay which is accessible when you stay at the Inn, Spyglass Hill which was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr., Peter Hay Par-3 Course and famous Pebble Beach Golf Links with the Lodge, shops and dining.
