I first talked to Janet after surfing the net and finding a perfect property within walking distance of Fisherman’s Warf. It looked like a knocker-downer but there was a large parcel next to it hat was also for sale. She happened to answer the phone that was listed on the web page. I explained my plan and she listened politely. When I was done she explained that the house was condemned as uninhabitable but was an historical landmark so couldn’t be demolished. Second, I could build on the adjacent property as long as I didn’t include any showers, sinks or toilets in the plan since there was no water available in the city of Monterey or most of the Monterey peninsula.
